Chris Simpson asked us to tell you about two events in July, the month he’ll be celebrating his 83rd birthday, on July 13.
Tribute to Chris Simpson and Magna Carta
The first is an evening of tribute to Chris Simpson and Magna Carta, hosted in Harrogate, Chris’ home town, on Wednesday 16th July 2025 at 7:30pm. Here is a link to the article which appeared recently in the Harrogate Advertiser:
Chris is really looking forward to this evening, particularly to be in the company of his good friend Graham Chalmers and one or two Magna Carta musicians. If anyone would like to attend, here is the link – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/vinylsessions-and-charm-presents-a-tribute-to-chris-simpson-and-magna-carta-tickets-1410405814759?aff=erelexpmlt
It’s all for charity!
Exhibition Magna Carta 1225
The second is a little more unusual – an exhibition being run by the Society of Antiquaries, entitled ‘Magna Carta 1225’. Obviously, it’s the ‘other’ Magna Carta, the first and original Magna Carta, but they came across Magna Carta the band as they were doing their research.
Long story short, they have included a small tribute, in their exhibition, to Magna Carta (the band) and have invited Chris along to the press and peer review, which takes place before the exhibition opens to the public. There are details about the exhibition here:
‘Magna Carta 1225’ runs at the Society of Antiquaries, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, from Wednesday 23 July to Friday 19 September and is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 11am to 4pm, free for anyone to attend.
