The second solo record from Doug Morter, after a gap of 40 years, a collection of thoughts from “the invisible man of folk rock” as dubbed by Acoustic magazine. This description derives from the fact that you may not know the name, but you have definitely heard him play on noted folk records since the ‘60’s. Hunter Muskett, Maddy Prior, June Tabor, Magna Carta, The Albion Band, Richard Digance, Michael Chapman, The Gathering, The Backroom Boys, Jerry Donahue, Then Came The Wheel, etc., etc.
Whether live or on record, festival or club, the lad’s been around! Since 1968. Now, after much coaxing, Doug has come up with 11 songs, that pay homage to his past, and some reflections on the present. With known tracks like “False Hands Across the Table”, written after a Magna Carta tour in the Middle East, particularly Beirut in 1981, just as relevant today, to Doug’s first offering as a songwriter, “Snow”, written with some liquid encouragement from the late great Danny Thompson, for Hunter Muskett’s first record, “Every Time You Move” in 1970, all re-recorded with a bunch of great musicians, for the “now”! With a bit of hat tipping to his old colonel in chief Chris Simpson, from Magna Carta, with the song “Two Old Friends”, to the cover of Donovan’s “Colours, which features Doug’s long time playing partner, Jerry Donahue (from his last recording session in Denmark, before he became unable to play), there are seven new songs, one dating back to ’75, although new to the outside world, from blues to ballad, road to home, all areas covered, including a tribute to Bonnie Raitt, who Doug saw in London, and rates as the best concert he had seen to date.
So, for those who bought “Been There, Seen it, and Bought The T Shirt”, Doug’s first solo endeavor, and waited forty years for the next, here it is! Sorry for the wait, we hope it was worth it! For the newcomers, and oldcomers, we hope you enjoy the music, and hope you come and see Doug playing with Hunter Muskett, (gigs on www.huntermuskett.com) and other formats, over the next seasons. Luv 2 All!

“To all those Mama’s Boys out there, and to all those Mama’s Girls, to my luvverlee parents, God rest them, with a message to all those “would be” bullies out there, watch out, she’s after you, and to all those lovers of a good tune and a foot stomp, I hope I’ve covered all the angles!
